Session 3: Emotions in Silence - Anger and Happiness

Today we moved to Murcia’s Drama School where students follow their drama courses, with a view towards the Cathedral of Murcia in the Cardenal Belluga Square. Now gone, John and Henriette had left us with a framework to follow in the next sessions. In this third session we focused the attention on the emotions of anger and happiness, creating a short tale that moved from the first emotion to the second.
We continued to work in small groups and used various techniques to bring the people with Alzheimer back to the theme of today. Here the physical contact with the hands was especially important.
It proved to be a challenge for the students to connect to people with Alzheimer, starting the narration on the anger. This emotion did not reach all in an equal way, nor was it expressed in the same way. It seemed as if there were people who generally did not get angry in their every day life, as a way of being.
On the other hand, the emotion of happiness was easily expressed, stimulated merely by looking.
